More Dresses

I finished sewing my Felix dress. I love it! This was a challenging sew for me, but I did a good job. The pattern is rated as intermediate, and is lined. I learned a lot!

Pattern is Felix Dress by Grainline Studio. Fabric from Mood. Lining is teal Bemberg viscose. I was impressed with the lining fabric as well, and won’t be suspicious of viscose in the future. I love this design, and will probably sew a sleeveless version.

I sewed another Melba dress, this time in black cotton interlock from deep stash. I skipped the facings and bound the neckline, and prefer it. I hemmed the sleeves. This fabric is lightweight, and I expect I will wear this all summer with nude clog sandals. This was on my spring sewing list, so I’m glad to get this done.

I tend to do more sewing in spring and summer, and more knitting in fall and winter. What about you?

  1. This Felix dress is my favorite of your new dresses! Great use of the fabric and very flattering length! Looking forward to seeing a sleeveless version. May have to snatch up one of these patterns myself! Thanks for the links. 👍

  2. And where do you wear all these lovely dresses? Are you a wear-dresses-all-the-time type? I mostly wear pants, so the dresses mostly sit on their hangers. I sew when I (or a family member) need something to wear, or I have the perfect fabric gifted me; I knit all the time – smaller things in the summer, though. I’m unlikely to start another sweater this spring. Oh, right – I’m roasting in South Carolina at the moment, and it will be cooler when I get home to Vermont, so maybe I will end up starting another sweater. Right now I’ve got a pair of socks going.

    1. Because I have really bad GERD, I mostly wear dresses and overalls. I can wear pants that I sew myself since I can make them loose in the belly, so I have a few of those. What sweater are you going to cast on?

      1. I don’t know about the sweater yet; it’s another from Aunt’s stash, for another cousin. I’ll be seeing him a week from Saturday, and have some swatches and patterns to discuss with him. Yes, sewing things that fit and suit is why I sew most of my clothes, too! But now that I’m no longer working, I care a lot less if what I’m wearing looks a little worn!

  3. That is one beautiful dress! You’re an amazing maker of all things. The black is lovely too but won’t it be a bit warm in summer? Of course, if you’re inside with AC it won’t be. How you get so much accomplished is beyond me. You are amazing!
