It’s almost October, my favorite month!
Sewing

I’m sewing a little on my Rachel shirt each day. Sewing hurts my back, so I am taking it a few steps at a time.

Here’s a close up of the fabric. What I love about this fabric is I can wear it year round and no one will notice it’s Halloween fabric unless they get a close look. These buttons are from my stash, and I think work well. And I have enough of them.
Knitting

I am trying to buckle down to work on my Mom’s Franca. I have to learn some new things so I need to focus. I think the shaping will be worth it for the fit, and I’m hoping once I learn the method, I will be able to knit more of these sweaters. Like this one:

Eventually, I want to knit a suit — a pullover and skirt — and I think this sweater is perfect for it.

I love the fabric for your shirt. The buttons will look great.

Haha, that fabric! You’re totally right–at first glance I just thought, oh pretty, leaves & flowers! And that cardigan is the kind that I absolutely love to wear but just don’t think I’d have the stamina / patience to actually knit. The yarn you chose looks super cozy, too.

That fabric is so cool, the top already looks lovely. Is it German short rows you are learning or another short row method for the cardigan? I’m trying to make a list of techniques to learn.

I’m not sure. She has you provisionally cast on each side of the cardigan shoulders separately, but they are connected. I’m stuck at that, but I’m sure if I follow the instructions I will be fine. Then hopefully I will be able to tell you what I did. 😂

My favorite month is October too! You are right about that material as I didn’t notice the ghosts at first but so cute! The Franca is a nice style and I love the yarn you or your Mother chose. A sweater and skirt outfit sounds wonderful. Years ago I have a knitted dress with a sweater to match and it was one of my favorite outfits. Now, I have no figure for wearing knits or anything clingy but back then I did! LOL! Keep up the good work on your lovely projects.

I need to learn more about cocoknits sweaters. Isn’t it a technique kinda approach to sweaters?? Another knitting “to do” item.

Yes, it’s top down with shoulder shaping, and you use a worksheet for sleeve increases and other shaping.
